Attorneys-at-lawApplies to: Finland

Encrypted file exchange for law firms

Documents for clients, the other party or experts – sent encrypted, with proof of when they were downloaded. Clients can send you documents securely too.

What your professional rules require

Laki asianajajista (496/1958), 5 c §

Attorneys and their assistants must not disclose without authorisation private, family or business secrets learned in their work. Breaches are punishable under RL 38:1 or 38:2 (Finnish Criminal Code).

Hyvää asianajajatapaa koskevat ohjeet, 3.4, 4.3, 11.5

Confidentiality without time limit. Persons who provide services to the firm must also observe it.

Tietoturvaopas (Suomen Asianajajat, 1.12.2025), 14.2, 15.3

IT service providers only with a written confidentiality agreement; access by their staff is normally to be prevented. Send particularly sensitive material encrypted and instruct clients to send documents securely.

How TEPHIA SECURE meets them

Confidentiality agreement in our contract

Our data processing agreement contains the key points of the model agreement in the Tietoturvaopas: confidentiality without time limit, a personal commitment from everyone involved, access only where needed, and notice of attorney-client secrecy in the event of a search.

State of the art

AES-256-GCM encryption in the sender’s browser, with the key derived from the password using Argon2id. The server holds no key and cannot read the contents.

No account needed for recipients

Recipients do not need an account. Clients and third parties can send you documents through an upload box, with the same protection and the same proof of delivery.

Verifiable proof of delivery

Each entry is cryptographically chained to the previous one. The proof of delivery is a signed PDF/A with a timestamp from an independent time-stamping authority.

See an example: a real proof of delivery A real transfer of three sample files to a demo recipient — digitally signed, timestamped, with the checksum of every file and publicly verifiable at any time.
